Habitat Tracker Project

I spent two semesters working with the Habitat Tracker Project. From the website:

The goal of Habitat Tracker is to support the school-based science learning of fourth and fifth grade elementary students before, during, and after field trips to a local wildlife center (the Tallahassee Museum). Visits to the museum will be part of a week-long intervention on scientific inquiry in which pre-visit planning and post-visit data analysis form essential parts of the inquiry experience. Supported through the use of online resources in the classroom, before and after the field trips, this project will help students gain experience planning and conducting scientific inquiries while making museums an integral part of classroom learning.

Habitat Tracker is a research project of the Florida State University, and is funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education (R305A100782).

My role in the Habitat Tracker Project was to provide digital media of the animal exhibits for the project websites, including photography and digital videos. I used a Canon 5D Mark II to capture both the images and videos, and for the first half of the project used a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 to obtain shots of the animals from a distance, and for the second half used a 70-200mm f/2.8L. Wide angle shots were achieved using both the Canon 15mm f/2.8 and 35mm f/1.4L.

Videos were created using digital stills and video captured from the Canon 5D Mark II, and edited using iMovie and Photoshop CS5.
